Renew your homes luster with Fog Coating
Exterior stucco is an excellent choice for most homeowners. It adds interest and vitality to any home's exterior.
But what happens when stucco begins to lose its luster?
Well, you go from a vibrant fresh coat to a dull faded stucco wall
Not pretty. So what are your options?
Fog Coating or Fogging
Fog Coat is a cement-based color coat finish specifically designed to patch, rejuvenate, and re-color exterior stucco walls.
Unlike other materials, it is safe to use on most stucco surfaces.
Fog Coat is preferable to painting over stucco walls. It creates a uniform finish that meshes with your existing stucco wall. Painting over stucco tends to trap moisture, leading to mold and mildew down the line. Peeling and chipping can also become a problem if the painted structure is not maintained . Fogging lasts much longer than paint, with less maintenance. It makes it a much better long-term alternative that is easy to maintain.
Fog coating is applied using an airless sprayer with a specialized nozzle. The coat is spread across the surface evenly, followed by an additional one or two coats if needed. Then it's allowed to "cure" for 1-3 days or for as long as a week depending on weather conditions. After that, your left with an even & vibrant color that will last for years.
Benefits of Fog Coat
- An easy and cheap way to freshen up your aging stucco
- You don't have to change your existing texture
- You can apply it to your new or old stucco
- Will not bubble or crumble like paint
- Allows your surface to breathe
- No primer required
- Available in a Matte finish
- Available in a large variety of Earth colors
- Bonds into your stucco wall
The downsides of fogging are few. The main concerns are that you cant apply it to painted surfaces, metal, sealed wood, or smooth surfaces. Other than that, if you are on a budget and can't really afford a complete re-stucco of your entire home and would rather avoid paint. Fogging is an easier and cheaper alternative.
